The New Year is quickly approaching...what are your resolutions for 2012?

We all set New Year's Resolutions every year, but how long do we stick to these resolutions?  I too, realize that yet another year has passed and I did NOT complete any of my goals for 2011.  As we all know, the top resolution is working out...whether it's to lose weight or just get in shape.

For losing weight, be sure to include some type of cardio...studies show those that do not incorporate cardio into their work out actually eat about 500 calories more than those who do cardio.  Why do you want to increase your appetite when the goal is to lose weight.
Other tips for losing weight are:
Meals per day: to eat 5-6 small meals a day.  Be consistent.
Protein: Try to have protein with every meal.  Protein acts like a thermogenic in your body, thus helps to speed up your metabolism and helps you feel satisfied.  Every meal has protein (egg whites, egg beaters, turkey, cottage cheese, red meat lean, chicken, PROFLEX PROTEIN POWEDER, Greek/fage yogurt, elk, fish, etc).
Timing: You should eat something small every 2-4 hours, do not go over 4 hours.  Never skip breakfast and be consistent every day with your meal timing.  Eat your post workout meal within 30 min. after workout.  This will be after weights on weight training days and after cardio on cardio only days.
ATTAIN BARS AND SHAKES act like a meal replacement.  The fiber in these products acts like a natural crave blocker in your body keeping you full and energized.
ACCESS BARS come in handy and help you burn fat.  Eat an access bar 15 min prior to your workout or when you are craving something sweet or forgot a meal.
Water: Water, Water, Water!  Try to have one gallon per day or at least 1/2 gallon.  More water means you will hold less water in your body.  SUSTAIN SPORT works great for energy and getting all of your water in each day. Loaded with Vitamin C, E and B12 this is a great addition to your water and during sports or workouts.  (Lemon, berry, orange, ruby red grapefruit or raspberry lemonade).
Carbs: Oatmeal, brown rice, yams, brown rice cakes, whole wheat English muffins, whole wheat tortilla, whole wheat bread, fruit.  Have complex carbs 3-4 times per day.  Choose complex carbs over simple (sugar) carbs.  Always have carbs at Breakfast and after a workout.
SIMPLY FIT CRACKERS are a must for a great carb at only 140 calories for 14 crackers (cheese and harvest grain).
PREPARATIONL Preparing is KEY!
Prepare all of your meals if you can and bring with you to work and errands and on weekends.  These can be quick easy meals.  Get a mini cooler for on the go.  Try to cut back on all sugar and junk food.  Limit Alcohol!  Stick to the plan Monday-Friday.  Try to eat healthy foods at work and then have a few treat meals on weekends.
YOU CAN HAVE 2 FREE MEALS ON THE WEEKENDS.  SIMPLY FIT COOKIES, ACCESS BARS, UNFORGETTABLE DARK CHOCOLATE MAKE A GREAT SWEET TOOTH REPLACEMENT.

Spring is here and so is spring cleaning...

but before you get out the bleach, lysol and other cleaners read this...
"After analyzing 2,983 chemicals used in personal care products, 884 were found to be toxic." National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
Every year 5 to 10 million household poisonings are reported.  Many are fatal and most of the victims are children.  These poisonings are the result of accidental ingestion of common household substances found in just about every home.
Household chemicals are like a loaded gun.  I'm blessed that almost 4 years ago, a good friend loved and cared enough about my family to share the information she had found.  Since then, I've been able to protect my children from those harmful chemicals.
"Of chemicals found in the home, 150 have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer, and psychological abnormalities." Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Why is it that so many people like myself think our government actually regulates the products we find on store shelves.  Five states as of to date have banned products like Tide and Cascade.  Other countries have banned Johnson and Johnson yet our government allows a new mom to go buy these products and put these harmful chemicals on our newborn baby.
Personal care products are made to put on your skin, in your hair, or in your mouth.  But many ingredients used in personal care products are also toxic and can be either ingested during use like some ingredients in mouthwash and toothpaste or can be easily absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream.
So before starting that spring cleaning...research what you are using and I'm more than happy to help you get any information and decide what to use!
